The Tundra *Set* Knitting Patterns: Luxurious + Elegant In Faux Fur

The Design Concept Of The Tundra Knitting Patterns: Luxe Faux Fur Elegance And Warmth

When faux fur yarn became popular recently, I knew I wanted to design something using it, but it took me awhile to figure out exactly what it would be, and I wanted to ensure that each design was sophisticated, elegant, and fashion-forward, unlike the other faux-fur patterns I've seen. I went for an Anna Karenina vibe for this knitting pattern set, and I really set my sights on creating elegant, timeless pieces. I wanted to make sure that the designs I released were very thoughtfully designed and not just thrown together like a simple blanket or small cowl scarf that barely provided any warmth. It took me a long time to figure out what to create, and then I landed on a set: a cowl knitting pattern, a mittens knitting pattern, and a hat knitting pattern. All three items were specifically designed to coordinate effortlessly, making for the coziest and classiest winter accessory set. Each pattern is sold individually, or you can grab the entire set at a discounted price; either way, you'll be wrapping yourself up in opulent comfort with these beautiful designs!

The Tundra Hat Knitting Pattern: Design Details and Concept

I knew I wanted to design a classic trapper hat (aka: earflap hat) for winter, so I first designed The Tundra Hat. Engulfing you in the softest faux fur, The Tundra Hat features a faux-fur brim with classic earflaps and a double-thick front brim. The hat then flows upward into classic stockinette stitches in a different yarn, and features a symmetrical spiral design at the top, before being topped off with a large, fluffy yarn pom pom. This hat is so cozy and warm and I think it's the perfect winter accessory for those especially cold winter days.

The faux fur yarn against your ears and face is such a sumptuous treat of coziness and warmth, and it makes you never want to take it off! You can even add little tassels to the ends of the earflaps if you want to add a little extra flair, but I opted out of those on this hat because I wanted to keep it clean and classic.

The Tundra Cowl Knitting Pattern: Design Details and Concept

Ever since faux fur yarn hit the market and became popular recently, I've seen an influx of easy crochet cowl and knitted cowl patterns everywhere. So when I was wanting to design a cowl for The Tundra Set, I knew I wanted it to stand out and be a real statement piece that looks elegant, sophisticated and opulent. So I designed The Tundra Cowl knitting pattern to create a super cuddly cowl that was extra long, making it easy to cozy up in. There's instructions within the pattern to adapt the cowl to make it taller or shorter, wider or smaller, but if you follow the exact instructions for the photographed cowl, I don't think you'll be disappointing at all!

I have been wearing my own personal Tundra Cowl non-stop since finishing it, and it is such a dream! Instead of hanging loosely around the neck, it completely immerses you in the softest faux fur coziness, and it makes such a gorgeous accessory piece to pair with your favorite winter coat. I love wearing mine with a structured winter pea coat, because it looks so sophisticated! I always get complimented on this cowl and asked where I got it, if it's "real fur" and everyone is always so shocked when I said I knitted it myself (and in only just a few hours!). Yep, you read that correctly: this cowl knits up at lightning speed! In fact, all the knitting patterns in The Tundra Set knit up at lightning speed, making them the perfect gift set to give to someone this holiday season!

The Tundra Mittens Knitting Pattern: Design Details and Concept

It's no surprise: I'm a huge fan of knitted mittens, and have deigned quite a few knitting patterns and crochet patterns for mittens (check them out here). But instead of creating an entire mitten made out of faux fur, which in my opinion, looks super cheesy and not fashionable at all, I opted for a more fashion-forward, elegant mitten design. For The Tundra Mittens knitting pattern, the cuff of the mitten is knitted in luxuriously plush faux fur, and then the body of the mittens is knitted in classic stockinette stitches for an overall simple yet timeless mitten design. I've always loved the look and feel of fur-cuffed gloves and mittens, and I was super excited to design The Tundra Mittens! I also included instructions within the knitting pattern to adapt these mittens to make your own Tundra Mittens as large or as small as desired.  Overall, The Tundra Mittens knitting pattern is a great pattern for beginner mittens knitters and seasoned mittens knitters alike -- and the classic, elegant design is truly special!
