The Prairie Beanie Knitting Pattern: *Faux* Knit Cables

The Design Concept Of The Prairie Beanie Knitting Pattern: Faux Cables That Are Super Easy

When designing The Prairie Beanie knitting pattern, I specifically wanted to design a beginner-friendly beanie knitting pattern that had the visual appearance and texture of cables, but didn't involve cablework or anything above a beginner's/advanced-beginner's level of knitting at all. For this mission, I knew it would be a challenge for myself, and I'm so excited for how the final version turned out! I love the look of classic cables in knitwear, but I know a lot of people find cabling difficult, and sometimes it can get a bit tedious, so I really wanted to make sure I incorporated a knitting pattern into the Darling Jadore portfolio that had the classic look of cables but without all the fuss! Therefore, I designed these "faux-cables" to be knitted into the body of The Prairie Beanie, which are lovely and subtle, but still give the appearance of cable-knitting.

Knitted in the round bottom-up on circular knitting needles, The Prairie Beanie features a neat and prominent ribbed brim (instructions provide two methods of creating the brim), and the body of the beanie gently flows upward into a harmony of faux-cables that are made by only the simplest knit stitches. Then, to top it off, a large yarn pom-pom is added to The Prairie Beanie to complete the look. This is a fast and easy knitting pattern that works up in no time at all, and you'll be surprised by how "real" the faux cables look!

More Details Of The Prairie Beanie Knitting Pattern: Constructions, What's In The Pattern + More

The Prairie Beanie is knitted seamlessly in the round on circular knitting needles, bottom up, first starting with a prominent ribbing (directions are provided within the pattern to make the ribbing two different ways), and then by knitting upward toward the top. The stitch work required for the body of The Prairie Beanie is very simple, and only involves easy knitted increases and decreases, making this the perfect pattern for beginners. You'll be shocked by how simple it is to create these faux-cables! The top pom pom is made by hand, and the pattern even comes with a step-by-step photo tutorial to show you how to make the pom pom (which is also very easy). The Prairie Beanie works up at lightening speed and can easily be knitted in a day, making it the perfect last-minute gift, stocking stuffer, or to use for market prep.

Yes, absolutely! All finished items made from Darling Jadore patterns may be sold, so long as clear credit has been given to Darling Jadore™ on your website and/or social media account (if shown and sold there). I love when customers tell me they buy patterns for "market prep", meaning that they will make a lot of the items in bulk and eventually sell them in fall and winter markets and festivals, or in their Etsy shop, etc. In fact, some of our customers' favorite market-prep items to knit include The Avalon Beanie, The Lakewood Beanie, The Halston Scarf, and The Cappuccino Mitts -- so check those out if you want to stock up for market season!
