The Design Concept Of The Grove Mittens: A Classic Cable-Knit Mitts Design
When designing The Grove Mittens knitting pattern, I simply wanted to make a pair of cable-knit mittens that look really classic and sophisticated, with a classic ribbed cuff and sleek cable design. I knew I wanted to design the cables to be smaller than the usual cables I knit into my mittens designs, so after numerous sketches and testing, I finally got The Grove Mittens exactly how I wanted them! I designed the classic ribbed cuff to flow effortlessly upward to meet up with the cables, and I think that attention to detail makes a big difference. I designed one larger center cable that has a woven-like texture and appearance to it, and is flanked by two smaller cables that have a rope-like appearance. The rest of the mittens are covered in classic stockinette stitch, which makes these mittens so timeless.
Overall, I think this is probably my favorite mittens I've designed to date, and I think they look so nice and classy. I have plans in the future on expanding the sizes of the pattern to include men's sizes as well. As with all Darling Jadore patterns, they are "live", meaning they are regularly being updated with notice given to our customers. So if and when I do update the pattern to include men's sizes, all customers will receive notice and they can simply re-download the pattern (for free) with the new updated pattern.

Can I Knit The Grove Mittens? What's The Skill Level Of This Knitting Pattern?
I designed The Grove Mittens knitting pattern to be suitable for intermediate knitters looking for a fun and engaging knitting project to make a super classic, sophisticated pair of mittens. The mittens are seamlessly knitted in the round on double-pointed needles bottom-up, and there is some cablework involved. The cablework is very easy to follow, and the knitting pattern even equips you with a stitch glossary plus links to videos that clearly demonstrate how to work the cables for reference. I know the center cable and the two cables that are flanking it look complex, but honestly it's not at all. And not only are you equipped with a stitch glossary that explains how all the important stitches are worked, including the cables, but there's also links to video tutorials for the cables in case you prefer visually seeing it. Two of my test-knitters actually told me they were surprised by how simple the cable work turned out to be, and how quickly they knit up.
Aside from the front cablework, the rest of the mittens are knitted in classic stockinette stitches, which are easy and meditative to knit, and are lovely to break up the cable design. There are also links within the knitting pattern to helpful content and video tutorials for reference if you ever get stuck. Overall, these mittens work up really quickly and are extremely fun to make (in my personal opinion) because they keep you engaged with cables that are fun to make but nothing extensive or difficult. I've already knitted four pair for holiday gifts, and each time I've made one, it's been a relaxing and soothing project without any complicated stitches.
