Inspiration & Other Info About The River Sweater Knitting Pattern
Inspiration for The River Sweater comes directly from the beautiful variegated yarn I chose to knit it in. The soft blues feature speckles of browns and other earth-toned colors, which reminded me of water flowing down a stream, hitting all the river rocks. I wanted to create a classic crewneck with stockinette stitch, but also combine the textural element of ribbing throughout - the end result is this lovely sweater!
The River Sweater is seamlessly knitted top-down on circular knitting needles using worsted-weight yarn, which makes it a delightfully quick project. The neck is worked first, then short rows shape the neckline so that the front of the sweater scoops down for comfortable wear. After, the yoke is grown, the sleeves are divided, then the body of the sweater is finished. Lastly, each sleeve is worked to finalize the sweater. Since it's knitted in one quick piece (yay!), there's no need for any seaming. Overall, this is a quick and easy (and really enjoyable) pattern to make a beautiful sweater to treasure forever.
