I’m so excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at my latest knit sweater pattern in progress! The Everglen Sweater is inspired by nature, featuring a plush worsted-weight yarn in a stunning muted forest green. The color is subtle yet rich, evoking the peaceful depth of a woodland landscape, making it a versatile addition to any wardrobe.
One of the standout features of this knit sweater is the woven-like stitch pattern. It’s one of my favorite knitting textures because of its structured yet lightweight feel, and the best part? No purling! This makes for an easy and meditative knitting experience while still producing a fabric that looks beautifully intricate. The stitch pattern creates a fine, structured texture with excellent drape—perfect for a knit sweater that balances comfort and sophistication.

The Knit Sweater Design Process So Far
I’m absolutely loving the process of designing this new knit sweater! The woven-like texture is so beautiful and satisfying to knit—each stitch creating a fabric that feels both timeless and intricate. I especially love how outside the classic ribbing at the neck, cuffs, and hem, there's no purling involved - making it much more enjoyable. It’s a top-down raglan, which is my favorite construction method since it allows for a seamless, flowing knit that takes shape right in my hands. The coziness of this piece is unmatched—the fabric is soft, plush, and has just the right amount of drape, making it the kind of sweater you’ll want to live in. I can’t wait to share more as it comes together.

Inspiration For This Sweater Knitting Pattern
I love finding inspiration in nature, and for my newest sweater knitting pattern, I was particularly drawn to the quiet beauty of growing moss. There’s something so soothing about the way moss spreads—slowly, organically, and effortlessly soft—creating a textured, living tapestry across rocks and trees. I wanted to capture that sense of gentle movement and lush texture in my design.
The stitch pattern I chose mimics the way moss clusters in delicate formations, with subtle variations that add depth and dimension, much like how moss grows in layers. The yarn I selected enhances this effect, offering a soft halo that echoes the velvety appearance of moss under dappled light. The overall silhouette is relaxed and natural, embodying the effortless elegance of nature itself.

A Cozy, Mock-Turtleneck & Split Hem Knitted Details
For the neckline, I decided to extend the ribbing slightly longer than a traditional crew neck, creating a soft mock turtleneck effect. This small detail adds a touch of coziness and warmth without feeling restrictive. It’s a feature that subtly enhances the sweater’s refined aesthetic while keeping it practical and wearable across seasons.
The split hem adds a beautiful touch of modern elegance and practicality to the sweater. It enhances the overall drape, allowing the fabric to move effortlessly and sit comfortably on the body. This detail creates a flattering, slightly relaxed fit that works beautifully for layering, ensuring the sweater falls naturally without bunching. The subtle break at the hemline adds visual interest and a polished, intentional design element. Whether worn casually or dressed up, the split hem elevates the sweater with a refined yet effortless feel.

The Name "The Everglen Sweater" Knitting Pattern
I named this sweater The Everglen Sweater as a tribute to the serene, timeless beauty of nature. The name evokes an evergreen glen—a lush, tranquil woodland space filled with towering trees, dappled sunlight, and -- you guessed it -- soft moss. The muted forest green color reflects the soothing, grounding hues of the wilderness, while the intricate woven-like stitch pattern resembles delicate branches, capturing the quiet strength and organic movement of trees.
The sweater’s mock turtleneck and relaxed silhouette enhance its cozy, nature-inspired feel, making it perfect for wandering through crisp forest paths or simply embracing a sense of calm and comfort. Ribbed details add a touch of structure, much like the natural textures found in tree bark and winding vines.
Ultimately, The Everglen Sweater embodies the harmony of nature—strong yet soft, structured yet fluid, timeless yet ever-changing.

Silhouette & Inclusive Sizing For Darling Jadore Knit Sweater Patterns
It’s a sweater that feels like home—comfortable, welcoming, and endlessly wearable. Whether styled with jeans for a laid-back vibe or layered over a dress for a more sophisticated touch, the Everglen Sweater is designed to be that go-to piece you reach for again and again. Casual, but undeniably elevated—because effortless style should never mean sacrificing elegance.
I design all my sweaters in inclusive sizing (XS-5XL) because I believe that knitwear should be for every body—not just a select few. Knitting a garment by hand is such a personal and rewarding process, and everyone deserves the joy of making and wearing something that fits well, feels comfortable, and reflects their style. Offering a wide range of sizes is important to me because I want my patterns to celebrate all body types, ensuring that knitters of all shapes can enjoy my designs without having to make major modifications. I know that knitting a sweater is a labor of love, and I want every knitter to feel confident that their hard work will result in something they truly love to wear.
